Canadian Bands
When it comes to the music industry Canada has always been well represented, by delivering some of the finest bands the World has ever seen and this is not something that has happened just recently, it is a fact that has been going on through all times. A good example of this would be Steppenwolf, which was founded in 1967 and changed the face of the rock scene all over the world forever. This band is right up there with the other icons like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. If it had not been for these bands we would not have rock music like we know it today.
Canada is not just a supplier of rock musicians though, they thrive equally well on the alternative scene, where bands like Crash Test Dummies who were one of the first bands to combine rock music with folk influences and Nickelback, who changed the scene with their post-grunge influences. Those are names every fan of the genre knows.
In the popular pop music genre, names like Celine Dion and Alanis Morissette are known all over the world for their excellent repertoire, while on the other end, lovers of more extreme metal can rejoice with the songs of Annihilator, with their debut album Alice in Hell immediately breaking through they set an example for others to follow, which really is no surprise when you consider that the leader of the band is Jeff Waters, a well known name in the metal world and a master of the guitar. Their Techno Metal with Thrash Metal overtones set a new standard in the genre.
There is not a metal fan alive that does not know Voivoid who are solely responsible to introducing what came to be known as Doom Metal to the world. Starting out as a Speed Metal band during the eighties, they turned to the Thrash Metal genre and improved on it which resulted in what is now known as Doom Metal. Without those influences today’s popular bands like: Within Temptation and The Gathering would not have existed in the form we know them today.
Canada scores well on all fronts when it comes to delivering quality musicians that will cater to all tastes, and are responsible for raising the bar for others to follow.Throughout the years Canada has made its mark on the global music scene and contributed greatly in shaping the music as we enjoy it today. The nation holds many more quality musicians that we either have heard from or will hear from in the very near future.
